Field note on reducing the M65

The M65 usually brings enough detail on its own: four pockets, epaulettes, drawcords, buttons, zip, hardware.

Here, almost everything around it is deliberately quiet. An ecru T-shirt, stone pleated trousers, dark brown suede moc-toe boots and a pale cap. The colours sit close to one another, leaving the olive field jacket as the only real piece of equipment in the outfit.

What changes is the role of the jacket. It no longer needs to carry a military look. It simply becomes the textured outer layer over otherwise clean, almost tailored proportions.

Sometimes the easiest way to wear military clothing is to remove everything military around it.
